Help

Signing in
Before you can sign in, you need to have created your own Amivox account. As soon as you have created your account, you can sign in to the service with your mobile phone number (including your telephone country code; e.g., 44 for the UK) and your password.

Q: I forgot my password. How can I get it back?
A: Follow the instructions in Forgot password . You can either receive your password via SMS (you balance will be deducted with the cost of the SMS) or, in the case that you have previously verified your email address, you can receive your password via email (at no cost).
Create account
Please visit Create account to fill out the details to create your Amivox account.

Some seconds later, you will receive an SMS message to your mobile phone containing your password. We recommend, when you login for the first time, that you change your password under "My account" to something that you will easily remember.

Q: Why do I need a mobile phone to register?
A: Amivox is a mobile centric solution. You will be able, among other things, to place inexpensive calls and send SMS messages via the service. All calls and SMS will arrive to the receiver from your telephone number. Therefore, your mobile phone number (including the country code) is the unique identifier of your Amivox account).
Password
When you register to Amivox, we send you an initial password via SMS. Please use this password the first time you login to the service. We recommend, when you login for the first time, that you change your password under "My account" to something that you will easily remember, but can still be considered a "strong" password. Please notice that the same password and username are used for all Amivox services (http://www.amivox.com, http://www.amicast.com, http://m.amivox.com, etc.).

Q: Why do I need a password?
A: To identify you account you need to sign in with your credentials: mobile number + password. (You can set your browser to remember your username and password for easy access). You can access your Amivox account from any PC or mobile phone with internet access. This way, you can borrow a phone from a friend to access Amivox (e.g., in case your phone is out of battery, or you have lost your phone, or you are abroad and want to bypass roaming charges, etc.) and you will still cover the costs for all Calls / SMS / Shout that you consume.
Verify your email
When you create your account you are asked to provide your email address. To make sure that you are the correct holder of this email account, we ask you to verify it. In the verification process we will send an email to that account with a confirmation link. Upon the first validation of your email account, you will receive your initial trial fredit (free credit). With this trial balance, you can try out Amivox's functionality without need to top-up.

If you notice that your email address is not correct (e.g., you have changed the email account after you registered, or you made a typo when registering it first), you can correct it -at any time- under Account. Please notice that the initial balance is only granted the first time that you verify your email account.

Occasionally we will send you information about new products from Amivox. Likewise, we will provide you with your password via email if you have forgotten it. To make sure that you receive all emails from Amivox correctly, we suggest that you put the following email addresses to your email contact list: "yourvoice@amivox.com" and "aminews@amivox.com"

Q: Why do I need to submit my email address?
A: To recover your password if you have forgotten it and to get the latest news from Amivox.
Update balance

To use Amivox's premium services you need to have a positive balance on your account. Upon registration, we give you trial credit as soon as you have verified your email. Later, if you run out of credit, some of the features will be disabled until you top up your account, either via a direct top-up or via receiving a balance transfer from another Amivox account. You only need to have access to a credit card, or to buy credit from a friend who is willing to sell you some of his balance. The most convenient way to top up your account is to select either Paypal or 2Checkout from the "Add credit" menu.

Q: How do I top-up my account?
A: After login, select "Add credit" to top-up your account with your credit card and from your PayPal account.

Q: Can I still use the service if I don't have a balance?
A: If you run out of credit you can use some of the Amivox services for free like unlimited Voice to email and unlimited Voice IM. Also, to use Amicast you don't need to have any balance.
User Interface
Amivox can be accessed from a PC browser (www.amivox.com), from a mobile browser (m.amivox.com) and from a mobile client (software for your mobile). To use Amicast (www.amicast.com), you need to have a mobile client. Since mobile browsers don't offer all functionality of PC browsers, only a subset of services is supported within the mobile browsers interface (m.amivox.com). Soon we will provide a mobile client to use for all standard Amivox communication services.
Your communication
USING THE AMIVOX WEB Q: I can already place calls and send sms messages. Why should I need Amivox to do this? A: You may decide to use Amivox for several reasons: - To save money, especially on international communication - To easily type and send sms messages anywhere in the world directly from your computer - To communicate in a more efficient way than ever before with a number of different communication channels for voice messages - To securely keep and edit your contact list on the web with access from any device at any time
Calls
When you order a call with Amivox, your mobile phone receives first a call. Once you have answered it, the system connects you with the number that you are calling. You can also change the number where you receive the initiating call (for instance, to a fix phone close by). This may be very applicable when you are roaming in order to save the cost of receiving calls when you are abroad (e.g., by redirecting your incoming call to the telephone in your hotel room or to a friend's phone). NOTICE: after you have changed "My phone" to a number different than your mobile phone, you will be called at this number in all subsequent calls you place. If you want to be called again at your mobile number (or any other number) simply edit again the field "My phone" in the Call menu. This can be very useful in a number of situations: - When travelling to other countries you can avoid paying roaming charges for incoming calls by choosing a local telephone number accessible to you - To use very cost-effective telephony without having to be sitting in front your computer with a headset connected to your ear - When concerned about the radiation from your mobile in long calls - When running out of battery either on your mobile phone or on your laptop when travelling - etc.
Q: When I place a call, why does the service call me first? A: Before we start the call to the called party, we must make sure that you are ready to address that call. Therefore, the connection to the called party starts only right after you answer the call.
Q: Can I change the number where I receive the call? A: Yes. If for example you are at home, you may decide to handle the call from your land line phone (and save additional money!). To do so, simply edit the field "I will be called at"
SMS
Click on "SMS", write your message and send it to your buddy. If you are using Amivox from your mobile phone, please notice that the SMS message will not leave from your phone as with traditional SMS messages. Instead, Amivox will send your message using our network systems. This means that your mobile operator will not charge you for the price of the SMS. In all cases, whether you send the SMS message using Amivox from your computer or from your mobile, the receiver will see that the message comes from your mobile number. In case he/she replies to your message, it will arrive directly into your mobile phone. Q: When I send SMS with Amivox, why are my messages not stored within my phone's "Sent messages" folder? A: SMS messages sent via Amivox are sent as a data package from your phone instead of a the traditional SMS. Therefore the messages are not stored within you phone but instead they are all visible from the PC interface. This way you can store all sent and received Amivox messages and always have them accessible, never load your phones memory and you will never need to delete, hence loose an important message.
Voice messages
With Amivox you are able to directly speak your messages from your computer or mobile phone (client) and send them with a single click as a call (Shout), SMS, email or instant message. These message types all have their different usage advantages and cost benefits. Below, each message type is explained in more details. Q: What is the difference between Amivox voice messages and traditional voice messages in a voicemail system? A: Traditional voicemail and Amivox have little or nothing in common. Amivox voice messages are instantly delivered to the recipient unlike with traditional voicemail systems where messages are left for the recipient to possibly be retrieved at a later time without any certainty of delivery for the sender.
Voice Shout
Voice shout messages are uni-directional calls which transmit your message to any telephone receiver where they are played out automatically to the receiver. Shout messages are as urgent as a phone call but as laid back as a standard voice message. Voice shouts are low cost messages which can effectively be transmitted between continents at a very low price. Send your voice messages as micro calls; your buddy will receive a call, hear your message, and will even be able to reply to it in real time!
Q: Why should I send shout messages instead of just sending an SMS or just making a call? A: When you send a shout you can avoid staying on the line and waiting for someone to pick up the phone one the other end. This can be very handy when you are as an examply driving in your car or in any other situation where time and delivery are critical.
Voice SMS
Voice SMS messages are standard SMS messages with a link to a message download site. These messages can be received by any mobile phone with an internet connection or from a PC browser. Voice SMS is like standard SMS in urgency but with the audio feature the message richness is increased with the possibility to capture the voice real emphasises and thereby to transmit the actual emotion of the moment. When voice SMS's are delivered the receiver downloads the message from a mobile site with profile information of the sender. If the mobile receiver prefers he/she can always always have the option to hear the voice message from a computers webpage and a unique code provided in the Voice SMS.
Q: What is the difference between an Amivox voice SMS and a traditional MMS? A: Amivox voice messages can be sent to any SMS capable mobile phone in the world, while if you send an MMS you must make sure the receiver can receive an MMS from your operator, which often is not the case between two countries or even within the same country. The recipient of the voice message can view the sender's Amivox profile when retrieving the audio message which is not the case with standard MMS.
Voice email
Voice email messages are similar to voice SMS when composed, but they are delivered to the recipient as a link within an email. Voice email messages are free of charge.
Q: Why should I send voice email and not standard email? A: Voice email will never replace standard text email. But on many occasions the easiness provided by sending a voice email can help to save time and avoid spending to long time on typing long emails. And it can be a lot of fun! Voice IM Voice IM messages are created for easy chatting between two users. Users can either chat from a PC or from a mobile (client). Such a chatting can often be the preferred channel for short and quick communication.
Q: Why should I chat with Amivox if I already have MSN or other standard IM clients? A: Amivox Voice IM friends are mainly your mobile friends. Your friends within the mobile are often not the same as your friends in MSN og Yahoo etc. With Amivox IM you can easily connect with your friends via their phone numbers and hence can select to chat with them on Amivox IM instead of using traditional telephony. Amivox IM is therefore more directed to replace traditional telephone communications than to replace MSN or Yahoo etc.
